How to Clean Shower Glass Screen

Limescale and water spots can build up quickly on glass shower screens, making them look unsightly.

But luckily, it’s pretty easy to keep your glass shower screen looking clean and sparkling.

Here are the five best ways to clean a shower screen keeping them looking fresh for longer:

1. Remove water drops after every shower

The easiest way to prevent water spots and tough stains on your shower glass is to wipe it down after every shower. You don’t need an expensive tool like a Karcher.

A simple squeegee or cloth will do the trick. By removing water drops quickly, you reduce the chances of marks and tough stains building up in the first place.

It’s also a lot quicker to wipe your shower screen down after every use than it is to scrub tough water marks.

2. Use shower glass cleaner

There are many glass cleaning products available that can quickly get rid of stains and marks. Spray the cleaner onto the surface and use a microfibre cloth to wipe away marks. Avoid using abrasive cloths as they could damage the screen.

Depending how tough the stains are, it could take a few wipes to remove imperfections completely.

3. Soap and water

Specialist, and often expensive glass cleaning products aren’t always the way to go.

Sometimes, good old-fashioned soap and water combined with a bit of elbow grease works just as well. Make sure you rinse soap residue away and use a squeegee to remove water drops to avoid marks.

4. Crack open a window

Condensation is one of the biggest causes of water build-up on your shower glass.

Even if you clean the screen immediately after a shower, condensation will cause new droplets to form and leave a mark.

Opening a window creates ventilation that gets rid of steam quicker and prevents water marks building up.

5. Use vinegar to get rid of tough stains

Ever scrubbed a stain so much you thought you’d get repetitive strain injury, and it still won’t go away?

Put white vinegar mixed with water into a spray bottle and spray on your glass, shower head or shower door,

It can break down these tough stains like limescale. Although there are plenty of glass cleaners that could do this job, vinegar is a cheaper option. Just spray the solution on the screen and leave it to settle for a few minute before wiping the stain away.

Then just rinse the screen with water and dry.

If you’re going to do this, make sure you stand back away from the vinegar spray (you definitely don’t want to start breathing it in).
